Austrian born on November 20, 1957 in Munich (Germany) as son of Hans and Eva Stadlmair, Simon took his first violin lesson at the age of five with Gottfried Scharlach. In 1973, he continued his music studies at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich with Prof. Albert Guntner. By 1976, he was already at the Academy of Music Detmold (Germany) studying under Prof. Lukas David and Prof. Tibor Varga.
The years that followed saw the creation of the “Detmold Piano-Trio” with Imre Kalman (Cello) and Claus Franke (Piano), the “Wimala Chamber Ensemble” with Claus Franke (Piano), Ralph Caspers (Violin), Christoph Matthiass (Viola) and Imre Kalman (Cello) and a Violin-Piano Duo with Claus Franke. There were numerous concert tours and broadcast recordings of all three formations in Europe and Southeast Asia
In 1980, he took over of a violin class at the Music School in Buende (Germany) and attended several Masterclasses with Gidon Kremer and Ivry Gitlis. In 1983 Simon graduated from the Academy of Music Detmold with a Master’s degree and became Substitute concertmaster of the Munich Chamber Orchestra for one year. The following year, in 1984, Simon took over the second violin principal chair in the Munich Chamber Orchestra.
With the Munich Chamber Orchestra, Simon went on numerous concert tours world-wide as soloist. The concert tours took him to United States, former Soviet Union, Japan, Taiwan, South America and all over Europe. Numerous broadcast and CD recordings followed and he began to study conducting with Prof. Hans Stadlmair.
In 1991, Simon came to Thailand and became Music Director of the Ibycus Chamber Ensemble and Director of the Ibycus Music-Academy. During his stay in thailand, Simon was also Guest Conductor of the Royal Thai Army Symphony Orchestra. In April, 2000, Simon performed in the Sugar Hall Okinawa with the “Detmold Piano-Trio”.
With his colleagues, he made two CD recordings of works by O. Respighi, S. Prokofiev and P.I. Tchaikovsky.
Since 2004, Simon Stadlmair teaches violin at the music schools in Taufkirchen and Gersthofen (Germany). He is also Conductor of the "Ensemble Musica Sinfonica" Holzkirchen (Germany) since 2006.
