Zazie Hayoun comes from an extremely rich background of theater work. Since the age of 9, Zazie was already into acting. Upon graduation from high school, she diversified into classical and modern dance as well as lyrical singing. Not long after her English studies at the Sorbonne, Zazie was at the famous School of Drama, Jacques Le Coq.
Zazie Hayoun has spent more than 30 years of her life in the world of theater, first as actress, dancer, singer and then as stage director. Well-rounded in the performing arts, Zazie is a perfect director for the opera genre.
For Zazie, her first concern is the art of theatrical alchemy. There must be a vision that incorporates the whole in which each element (theater, dance, puppet and music) responds to the other and is inscribed in the logic of theatrical drama. The element of surprise and the unexpected are at the center of her work. Today Zazie is known for her intergrative use of video animation, acting, dancing, singing and the art of puppetry.
Zazie Hayoun has produced and directed all over France and extensively in Europe, gracing several national stages such as Le Grand Parquet, Musee Guimet and Cite de la Musique in Paris. She also produced for prestigious regional theaters in French provinces such as La Comedie de Reims, Niort, Fecamps, and on the European scale, at the Palais des Beaux Arts of Brussels, San Elpido Italy and at the Salisbury Festival, England.
For the past 15 years, Zazie has been regularly returning to India for inspriration and creation. Masny of these productions are then taken on tour internationally.
