The Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok Center is located at the Ibycus Building in the Lard Prao district of Bangkok, home of The Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok performing company and The Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok Vocal Studio.

The Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok Performing Company was founded in December 2004 by the leading Thai coloratura soprano, Sophie Tanapura.   It was mainly created to provide performing opportunities for her own voice students.  Among well-known favorite local soloists are Yaowapa Hoysangwal known for her silky lyrical beautiful tone, Vuthiphand Pongtanalert admired for his dramatic baritone renditions and Sirichai Charoenkijtanakul, the upcoming tenor voice that would melt your heart.

The Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok has also branched out to include guest singers such as Santi Lunpe known for his renditions of Thai patriotic songs, BSO principal cellist Kittikhun Sodprasert and Nikorn Saetang of 8X8 Theater for speaking roles.  The aim is to develop what is, at first, a semi-professional project into a fully established professional group, the very first Thai national opera company.
