The Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok Vocal Studio was set up to provide an accelerated learning environment for beginners as well as the advanced. It is the natural outcome of five years of vocal teaching by Sophie Tanapura in the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s classical music teaching project at the Thai-Japan Youth Center. Many voice teachers seek Sophie’s guidance at the vocal studio to continue their personal vocal development. Pop singers such as O Lamduan, have also sought Sophie’s help at the vocal studio to repair their voices.
The Vocal Studio of The Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok is becoming known among those who wish to pursue the art and technique of singing seriously. The vocal education at the Studio is open to all, starting at age 11 with adult students coming to study with Sophie Tanapura even at the age of 60. Aspiring singers in the classical tradition come from all walks of life and a variety of professions including actors and actresses.
Although its studio offers both professional and non-professional tracks, its principal aim remains, however, to educate future performers for the Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok. Enrolment or membership is through audition only.
The Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok has adopted an open system whereby any singer interested in enrolling at the MOB Vocal Studio or in becoming a member of the MOB performing company may contact the Ibycus Office (Tel: 0 2932 9208) to request an audition date. |
